The Vespertina Dance Project
Formerly known as TribalTique Denver, The Vespertina Dance Project is an energetic group of dancers led by Molly McClellan that have been charming audiences since the groups' inception in 2006. Focusing on fusing cutting edge fusion and paying homage their roots of ATS® (American Tribal Style®), Vespertina has created their own style of Tribal Belly Dance known as Modern Tribal Improv (MTI) or as they fondly call it "Impro-Fusion". Vespertina has grown not only into a well loved local staple, but has also received national praise. In 2013, Vespertina also began incorporating Tribal Fusion Choreography into its repertoire in addition to collaborating with local and national guest artists.
Dedicated and dynamic, these dancers showcase their technique and artistry in improvised sets and choreography ranging in a wide variety of music and costuming styles. Whether it’s a more traditional performance with ethnic costuming and zil (finger cymbal) playing, a daring sword performance, or a modern belly dance set with a twist, Vespertinas performances are always fun and colorful, and more than likely, you’ll never see the same performance twice!
You can find The Vespertina Dance Project performing throughout the Denver Metro area at such events as the Peoples Fair, First Fridays in the Santa Fe Arts District, Bedouin Basements, and the Boulder Creek Festival, as all along the Front Range at various shows and festivals. Check our calendar to see where we’ll be popping up next!
The Vespertina Dance Project is also available for workshops and performances. Check out our booking page or email Molly for more information.
Interested in becoming a part of our Tribe?
Current students in the student troupe may audition for Vespertina after they have demonstrated dedication, technique, skill, knowledge and proper execution of both the MTI and Tribal Fusion format in our weekly classes. Occasionally, we will audition dancers from outside our classes. We are also open to collaborations with guest artists!
Here is a great article by Wendy Allen of FatChanceBellyDance® about what it takes/what to expect when dancing with a Tribal Improvisational Group.
